These routes are also the location of many businesses, commercial centers, and services, including restaurants and shopping centers.
A short distance north, near the intersection of Route 6 and Interstate 355, there is Silver Cross Hospital, a cutting-edge medical complex that houses the best rehabilitation center in the country as well as the University of Chicago Medical Center.

In all, New Lenox covers around 15 square miles of green residential neighborhoods interspersed with farmland, a forested waterway, parks, and a string of businesses along the Route 30 Highway.

For a start, there are parks and green spaces like Hickory Creek Preserve, Lion’s Den Park, Haines Wayside Park, and the Old Plank Road Trail - a wide multi-use trail extending from east Joliet all the way to Chicago Heights, where it joins up with the extensive trail system running up and down Thorn Creek.
The pride of the New Lenox community is the large New Lenox Commons, which includes a bank, police department, library, and village hall.
At the center of the commons is a large pond, Performing Arts Pavilion amphitheater, and green space. The site regularly hosts musical events, festivals, and movie showings that are a great way to spend time with the family and meet your neighbors.
For golfers, there is the Sanctuary Golf Course on the banks of Hickory Creek.
Further afield there are many more parks and preserves to visit, as well as idyllic farmland, the nearby town of Joliet, and, of course, the great city of Chicago.
